Drawings by Deirdre Leber & Claire Wasser
This month will feature early drawings by Deirdre Leber and recent drawings by Claire Wasser.
Are drawings considered paintings? Their difference has to do with the medium. Drawing is often more focused on values (of dark and light) and lines, while paintings tend to be more focused on color. But not always. A painting can consist of lines and be monochromatic, or a drawing can use color. Drawings are usually created on paper and paintings are usually created on paper, linen, or panel.

"Mother-Daughter"
The work in this show is by a mother and her daughter. The mother's work on the left is of Natalie Wasserman, and the work on the right, of Claire Wasser.
The top row of each artist's work represents bookcases.
Natalie created cards for her husband over the course of 50 years on Valentine's day, Father's day, and his birthday. Claire's work is titled "Banned Books" (oil on paper, 2024)
The second row represents images of home and home life.
Natalie's work on the left shows an image of a home exterior, family sitting at a table, and children saluting their father as he enters home at the end of the day.
Claire's piece is titled "Daughters and Significant Others with Remy" (oil on paper, 2024)
